THE FILM
IMPRESSIONS

Sprayed letters and figures on house walls in the urban environment are known as graffiti. The term creates images of the often colorful street art in our mind's eye.

We see, experience and save the information gained as knowledge. With my idea of abstract graffiti I would like to question known. No concrete shape or figure should be displayed. Is it possible to paint something without reproducing a familiar shape? What does the process and the result reveal?

The word graffiti contains references to specific tools such as markers and spray cans. Combined with the idea of abstract painting, interesting possibilities arise during the creative phase.

At a time when fundamental issues are being questioned and desperately looking for innovations, skills such as unconventional thinking are more important than ever. In well-organized school operations, their support is limited. It takes time and, above all, leisure - without coercion to a predefined result.

In my idea, the process is part of the complete work.

With the deliberate renunciation of reproducing known motifs, the comfort zone is left. It's not that easy to portray something that still has no image in your head. Creative thinking is required. The picture should be designed in a sense in the mind.

The goal is to overcome internal barriers, to develop an idea and to transform it into action. The result remains individual. Bad results are not possible because each work is an expression of one's own personality and this is promoted and earned by the finished work a bit of appreciation.

THE CANVASES

ART PROJECT ABSTRACT GRAFFITI

Graffiti art as an urban way of life exerts a great attraction on many young people. On this occasion, a corresponding offer was initiated at the Vorsfelde secondary schools.

In August 2018, a group of 14 students designed twelve canvases during a project week. They were accompanied by the Wolfsburg artist Sebastian Roese.

The mixed-age group (grades 6-10), whose participants had different knowledge and experience, not only had fun spraying, some participants also discovered their artistic talent.

For the students it was an exciting week in which they had many success experiences and received high esteem from classmates and teachers.
